Elliot Anderson has already established himself as a key player for England after two “faultless” displays over the international break.
Nottingham Forest‘s international players will return to a much-changed environment at the City Ground after Nuno Espirito Santo‘s overnight sacking on Tuesday, with Ange Postecoglou hired to replace him.
Postecoglou’s changes to the system employed by Nuno have already emerged as a concern for fans and pundits alike, and the Australian has a quick turnaround before Forest’s trip to Arsenal on Saturday.
Anderson is one of 13 players who departed on international duty earlier this month, and returns to the City Ground after giving Thomas Tuchel a huge decision to make following his first appearances for the England senior side.

Anderson turned heads at the base of England’s midfield on his debut against Andorra, with his passing statistics vindicating Tuchel’s decision to start him and making him a must-pick for their clash in Serbia.
Tuchel retained Anderson alongside Declan Rice in England’s double-pivot and saw the duo control proceedings to record a 5-0 win, and Anderson earned comparisons to Paul Scholes in his performance.
After Forest’s number eight quickly became the go-to number six for Tuchel in just two appearances, Anderson posted on Instagram on Wednesday with the message of: “Ending the break with another win!”

Anderson may have taken to dictating England’s midfield like a duck to water against inferior opposition, but he’s now set to be tasked at doing the same in the high-octane environment of the Premier League.
Nuno’s defence-first approach is a stark contrast to the all-out attacking style of Postecoglou, and the Portuguese’s attitude towards some of his new signings contributed towards his sacking by Forest.
Hutchinson was left out of Forest’s Europa League squad by Nuno despite their £37.5million outlay on him in the summer, but expect him and particularly Anderson to play even more prominent roles in a new-look side under Postecoglou’s guidance.
